Tata Motors has filed a record number of patents in the financial year 2024-25, marking its highest annual tally. The company submitted 250 patent applications and 148 design applications reflecting an important step in its research and development activities. These filing expands a wide range of innovations to the major industry trends such as connectivity, electrification, stability and security (CESS).Innovation expands vehicle systems and alternative technologies
Patent and design filing include the development of battery systems, powertrains, body and trim components, suspension, braking systems, HVAC and emission control technologies. Tata Motors has focused on hydrogen-based vehicles and fuel cell technologies.
In addition to patents and designs, the company filed 81 copyright applications and 68 patents were given in FY 25, giving it a total of 918 cumulative total. The company also received five awards related to intellectual property rights during the year, at India and internationally, during the year.
