spoiler ALERT: The story includes a spiiler for the conclusion of season 1 of the CBS “Mattolk”, now streaming on paramount+.
The case is closed on season 1 of CBS’s “Mattleck”, which separated itself from its pilot episode from 1986–95 Andy Griffith Legal Drama. Instead of a simple, gender-flipped reboot, widow lawyer medaline joined the “Matty” Mattolk (Kathy Betts) Act. However, the great secret to the audience at the end of the pilot was that the name of Matty is actually Medaline Kingston. And rather than going back to work, because before her husband died, her husband had removed all her money, she was actually a rich advocate on a personal mission, to find out that the reputed firm was responsible for burying the important OPIOD documents from the pharmacutical company Velbrexa, which could avoid drug addiction – which included the dead daughter, Elly. Nor was Matty a widow: her loyal husband Edwin (Sam Anderson) stands to help her, as her fearless technique-loving grandson Alyfi (Aaron D. Harris).
As the season 1 proceeded, Matty tried to stay under the radar in her investigation, but the way she was tied with many of her colleagues, in which she was a surprise, including fierce lawyer Olympia Lawrence (Sky P. Marshall), which was an early suspect, but was eventually cleaned by Matty. However, at the end of the two hours, many surprises, “Trade of the Trade,” was that the party Olympia’s ex -husband, fellow lawyer Julian Marksteon (Jason Ritter), was that the evidence was buried. This information was revealed by Olympia herself, whose world was already difficult, seeing that she revealed in the April 3 episode that she knew that she knew that Matty was not named Mattleck and she was lying with her, and everyone else since joining Jacobson Moore. The fact is that Matty and Olympia became closest to friends during that time, they were also deeply hurt.
In addition to the Olympia, Julian was a party guilty with the missing Velbex file (will be the result in the second season), some more finale shockers. so Diversity Executive manufacturer Jenny snareer Uraman has all the surprise for his investigation for his investigation, and how they will all shape Season 2.
Instead of waiting for Matty in Finale, Olympia faced her in the end of the episode 216. Was it always time to expel the cat out of some episode from the bag before the finale?
It was always a plan to hurry it, and to see what happened after that, and for the second season to pursue us in storytelling. We wanted to create a barrier for these two women whose love story we have seen. When we first picked the season Arch, he was in a moment 13 episodes. But as soon as we came in the episode, we just realized that as soon as this happens, everything changes between the two women. We wanted them to fall into love before they happened to them and to be intoxicated at once, and getting drunk and drunk at once.
Because once this happens, the balloon is impure, and we have to start blowing air again in all different ways. So we pushed it much more than what we thought of, and it was finished to feel like the right time to do it. We had 18 episodes, but I still had more story. I called the studio and asked him if he wanted two-part episodes, because there was a way to do it financially, but also let Finale breathe and actually serve all these characters that we know, and that everyone will have their own moment. And the studio said yes.

How much season 2 has been planned, so you knew when Billy’s ex -girlfriend with things like Claudia (Bella Ortis), when the closing of season 1 has been known that she explains that she is pregnant near the end of the episode?
You have to think about the end, and you have to be committed to it. So you think about the second season that you want to go in those directions. So I did enough to know this, “Okay, I want to find out these things, and are committed to them.” Then you want to take some time for your brain. Then, before the authors’ room, I like to think about big moments and bends, like, “This is when it is revealed, and it is the spine. It’s the place where we are going to start and end, and here we are finally going to land.” Then we begin to exclude them, and this is a really detailed process.
I am pitching it for studios and networks. It takes about an hour, and it actually passes through every episode, and we live very close to it. When you are constructing the structure, you all conspiracy, and then, of course, you still open every episode and you are looking for arch and mini-arcs, and all dynamics. We take two solid weeks at the beginning of the season, and we break the entire season.
Looking at the finale, it really felt as if the biggest story was about Matty and Olympia’s relationship, behind which there were relationships with every other story. Was that plan?
I initially said in the studio – and initially for Kathy and Sky – this is a love story between Olympia and Matty. That is, and it is epic. So they are going to be together, and then they are not. And they are going longer for each other, and they are going to all the figures of an epic love story – but it is about friendship. Friendship is rare and life-suggestion, and we are going to give him weight in the show.

As Mattie takes down its Opioid case board, the “silver springs” of Fleetwood Mac plays on it. How did you come to this song?
I am happy that you asked, because Kaila [Plewes]Our editors of that episode were, like, “I think it requires a needle drop.” I know that Kyela loves needle drops, but we do not use them a ton in this show. We heard something, and we were like, “No, no, no.” And then he was so, “I have only one more to listen.” He played “Silver Springs”, and it was just so, “Kaila, Oh, bless you.” She was very correct.
The Olympia also has to go to the bank and lie to reach the account that he once shared with Julian, but it indicates when he was misleading the first Matty. Are they more severed than the same cloth, either of them thought?
At the beginning of the episode, the Olympia is so angry and betrayal and hurt. And Matty is telling him, “Two things can be true, I lied to you, and I loved you too.” This is very important for him. They are really true. But for Olympia, in her mind, Matty is dead for her, but during the episode, Matty gives her some tricks of business, right? It was living in Matty shoes. And because of that, Mattie hopes that Olympia will see that it is difficult. You can love someone and if the need is enough you may have to manipulate them.
Matty also tells Olympia that she hurts her, and does so with the Olympia Julian. And then even with Matty, when Olympia says, “Let me go to the bank alone. Think of your daughter. If whatever our friendship means, you will let me go.” This is the one who wants to listen to Matty. But is the Olympia true for him? Is Mattie’s own trick being placed back on it? And this is the question, but Mattie does not know. Is there any chance for their friendship? Or is the Olympia manipulating her there? And is Matty worth it?

The case of gym murder in the episode is very different from everything going on with the story of Olympia and Matty. Was that intention?
Yes, we wanted every character to be a big moment. And for Sara [Leah Lewis]She wants to keep a case. We saw in such a way that Matty’s plan impressed Sara’s career in episode 10 when Sara was about to be selected for the matter – Matty was about to find out, so she pushed Billy to Billy. [taking the case]Matty looks at her effort and begins to be unsafe, and the part of the collateral damage is all. So it was a way to give a big moment to the character and one she was waiting for all the season. Matty wants Sara to win, because she knows that she snatched this second opportunity for her.
We also find out that Julian is actually guilty at a very end, and he was working on a senior (bee bridge) on behalf of his father, to take the missing Velbex documents years ago. Was it always a plan that it would return around Julian?
Yes, we argued it in the authors’ room. Will it be senior? Will it be Julian? We knew that it was about to look like Olympia in the worst time – and then it was not going to be Olympia. We knew that Mattie would get relief, and then the Olympia would make it precious. We were thinking that it would be senior, but it just felt, in the context of our characters, most people will have maximum pain and conflict, and what will be kept in real deep turmoil and moral dilemmas? Which makes for great TV.

In addition, we like Julian, even when he tries to get an Olympia to come to this deception – which is also a heartbreaking heart.
The way Jason gave that scene to the scene, he understood that Julian made this big mistake. He felt very bad about it. So he kept [the documents]This is his sign, and he is trying to be a better. I felt a lot for him because who is Jason, and how he really made this character human that was really privileged and there were many faults including cheating his wife, [Olympia]He has all these faults, and yet we like him. A character of Julian who wants to be better, and then when he is under great pressure, he goes for easy things.
How long do you want to bring Alphi’s potential father? Do you always know that the finale will be in?
Kathy and I talked about Alfi’s father in the pilot, and when they would be brought inside. I said in closing, and she says, “Okay, because I have the right actor for them,” what we have put. His name is Nico Nikotero. He and Kathy worked together on “Richard Jewel”, and they were with great scenes. He said, “He is fantastic, and deep and interesting and leveled.” No more say, Kathy Bates.
This character is also a way to maintain the pain of Ellie’s addiction and death in the picture, as it is easy to assume that it was probably a part of it.
With the father, if it is his or not, it is a question. But it can also come with Ellie’s memories that she did not have access, and also a moment of happiness. I want to find some happiness that he was also. But it destabilizes the environment of the entire home, which is a safe shelter of Matty.
Talking about the house, how much headed Matty and Edwin did in the next season, because they are hoping that they can live a good retired life, but they are not ready to leave their legal career? How much will there be a struggle for season 2?
They solve it, or they come on an agreement. I am not going to say how and why, but it is fun. They make sense around the episode 4 [of Season 2]And that agreement and understanding create new avenues of comedy and drama. I am very excited for his story. I can’t say more. There are a lot of spiiler, but, you know, once you respond to a problem, it opens new problems, so it is not going to be the same problem all the time.
Now when the Olympia knows who is really a Matty and all its lies, where does the show go from here? The show is called “Matalkrock”, which is also a fake personality that has now been blown away. Can you also answer this?
I can answer this. You don’t have to worry. It works. We know what is plan for the next season, and we are not losing matlock and his folk personality. Who is the character important and the way the plot plays in the second season enables us to do everything. It is exciting! I am excited about it.
