Bollywood actor Sunny Deol strongly condemned the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, expressed solidarity with the victims and called for ending terrorism.
Taking on Twitter, the Jat actor wrote, “At this time the world should only think about ending terrorism because its victims are only innocent people, humans need to be seen within themselves. I stand with the families affected in this hour of sorrow.”
The actor, who is also known for his role in politics and his vocal stance on national issues, is currently riding a high ride on the success of his film ‘Jat’.
Actor Siddharth Malhotra was involved in condemning the violence. Dad-to-B took his handle to express his confidence in the armed forces and to express their early justice. He wrote on his Instagram stories, “Terrorist attack on innocent citizens in Pahgam, Jammu and Kashmir is a cowardly task. I have full faith in our armed forces and I am sure they will need and ensure justice. My prayers and thoughts are with the families of innocent victims. Jai Hind!”
Officials said the militants hit a major tourist place of Pahalgham in South Kashmir on Tuesday, killing several people and injured at least 20, the officials said.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that the toll of death is still being ascertained. “The attack is much larger than anything directed on citizens in recent years,” he said on X, “he said.
The incident occurred around 3 pm when the terrorist came down from the mountain in the Besaran Valley and started firing on tourists who often go to the place that is often dubbed as ‘Mini Switzerland’. According to initial reports, the terrorist emerged from the dense cedar forest around Baisaran, which was a famous place for Bollywood filmmakers in the 1980s.
Since the news on the attack broke, many world leaders strongly condemned the violence and increased their condolences.
Initial reports suggest that an offshoot by the Pakistan-based terrorist organization, resistance front, banned Lashkar-e-Tabiba has claimed responsibility for the attack in recent years, marking one of the worst attacks in the region.
