Banks are shut in the following cities:
Agartala, Aizawl, Belapur, Bhopal, Dehradun, Itanagar, Jammu, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Raipur, Ranchi, Shimla, and Srinagar.
However, banks are open in cities such as Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Gangtok, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Imphal, Kochi, Kohima, Panaji, Patna, Shillong, and Thiruvananthapuram.
Despite physical branch closures, digital banking options such as UPI, IMPS, online banking, and mobile apps provide access to banking services like money transfers, bill payments, and others.
What about stock markets?
Stock markets are open on Monday (May 12). Trading continues as usual in the equity, equity derivative, and SLB segments on both BSE and NSE.
However, there is no trading in the currency derivatives segment on May 12. BSE has also declared a settlement holiday for this segment.
