Semiconductor Startup Caligo Technologies have achieved a funding round under the leadership of $ 1.1 million in the pre-series and the Economic Venture Fund. Funding will support the development of its second generation silicon chip and platforms for the purpose of high performance computing (HPC) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) workload.
Established by Anant Kinal, Rajraman Subramanian, and Vinay N Habilee, Caligotech focuses on addressing fundamental performance in computing for mass modeling, simulation and AI training. The approach to the startup is based on the posit, a novel is a real number representation that allows to reduce computing bit requirements by improving accuracy and energy efficiency.
Next-Je chip development and global expansion
The newly raised capital will mainly be allocated to research and development efforts for the upcoming Ver2.0 of its silicone chip-a 64-core poster-competent-V system-on-on-chip. The company intends to expand its engineering team and strengthen cooperation with the system Integrators, OEMs and ODMs.
In the previous year, Calligotech has been engaged with American universities, national laboratories and supercomputes to support its international expansion. It has also completed and sent its first silicon chip (Ver1.0), formed a accelerator board, and soft-launched operations in the US.
The startup has modified widely used compiler and programming framework-such as C/C ++, GORTRAN, and Python-COD to support Posit without the need for source-code changes. Its current offering, Tunga, an octa-core Risc-V processor is integrated into a accelerator card, already being tested by researchers for extended performance in HPC and AI applications.
Capacity in positing-competent computing
Seafand General Partner Narendra Bhandari said that Caligotech has successfully completed the chip design-to-product cycle with its first silicon and is now deployed to carry forward the next generation silicon for commercialization.
Managing partner Anirudh A Damani at the Artha Venture Fund described Posit as a possible new standard in computing. “Rapid growing with AI and HPC workload, computing efficiency is more important than ever,” he said. “Calligo’s posit-based chips solved the basic performance bottlenecks, which enables more accurate, more accurate and power-efficient computing.”
Calligotech plans to introduce their next-gene chip for high-virtue manufacturing in the next 12 to 18 months, allowing customers to evaluate its performance and scalability.
According to Custom Market Insights, $ 6.67 billion was estimated in 2024 in India’s Semiconductor Market – more than doubled by 2032.
