Kotak Mahindra Bank: From June 1, 2025, Kotak Mahindra Bank will overhaul its credit card reward system and introduce new charges. Many categories—including utilities, education, wallets, fuel, rent, government spends, insurance, and online gaming—will either stop earning rewards or see reduced earning potential once a spending cap is crossed.
For instance, Kotak Privy League Signature cardholders will not earn any rewards on rent or fuel transactions, while rewards on utilities will be capped at ₹75,000 per billing cycle. Similar caps will apply to other categories like insurance and online gaming. Other cards such as Kotak Mojo Platinum, Zen Signature, and Kotak 811 will face even tighter restrictions, while cards like Delight, Fortune, and 6E Rewards variants will not offer any rewards in these categories.
A 1% transaction fee will apply to certain spends like rent and education, regardless of amount, and on utility bills, wallet loads, online gaming, and fuel expenses after crossing specific thresholds. For example, fuel spends above ₹50,000 and utility spends over ₹75,000 on the Privy League Signature card will attract this fee.
Additionally, Kotak will increase the fuel surcharge waiver threshold and raise interest rates on most cards. Monthly rates will rise from 3.50% to 3.75% (annually from 42% to 45%). Fees for failed standing instructions will also be hiked, and the minimum amount due will now be 1% of the total outstanding balance. International transactions will attract dynamic currency conversion charges between 2% and 5%, depending on the card.
Axis Bank: Axis Bank will start implementing changes to its REWARDS Credit Card in a phased manner from June 20, 2025. Spends on utilities, telecom, rent, fuel, wallet top-ups, insurance, education, government payments, and tolls will no longer earn reward points. In addition, rent and wallet top-ups will not count toward annual fee waiver eligibility, while milestone benefits will exclude rent, insurance, wallets, and cash withdrawals.
HDFC Bank | HDFC Bank is tightening its lounge access policy for Tata Neu Infinity credit cardholders, effective June 10, 2025. The automatic lounge swipe system will be discontinued. Instead, users will need to spend ₹50,000 per calendar quarter to earn lounge vouchers. These vouchers, sent via SMS and email, must be claimed within 120 days and used within 180 days. Domestic lounge access remains capped at eight visits per year, limited to two per quarter.
International lounge access is unchanged. Users will continue to get four complimentary visits annually via Priority Pass. However, RuPay cardholders will now pay an additional fee of $3.25 per visit.
Despite the change in access rules, the Tata Neu Infinity card retains several key benefits. It offers 5% NeuCoins on Tata brand and Tata Neu platform spends, and 1.5% NeuCoins on other transactions. New users receive 1,499 NeuCoins after their first transaction within 30 days of issuance. The annual fee is waived on spends over ₹3 lakh. Cardholders also get a 1% fuel surcharge waiver (on spends between ₹400 and ₹5,000) and insurance cover for lost cards, accidental death, and emergency hospitalization abroad.
