These vehicles will transport guests and concerned parties within the site. Eneos will produce synthetic fuel, and will provide Toyota, Mazda, Suzuki, Subaru and Dahatsu vehicles. The purpose of this initiative is to display synthetic fuel feasibility in reducing CO2 emissions.
Fuel production
The fuel will be produced at the performance plant of ENEOS, which was completed in September 2024 within its Central Technical Research Laboratory. The plant was set up with the support of the Green Innovation Fund of the new energy and industrial technology development organization (NEDO). Toyota and Mazda will use this fuel in vehicles to transport guests. Suzuki, Subaru, and Dahatsu will use fuel in vehicles to transport related parties.
The participating vehicle manufacturers have already confirmed the compatibility of synthetic fuel with their vehicles, ensuring similar operations as gasoline.
Driving stability
Synthetic fuels provide a unique advantage in reducing CO2 emissions in their life cycle. They are made using renewable energy sources and hydrogen obtained from CO2. Their liquid form allows for spontaneous integration with the current fuel infrastructure. This makes them a promising solution to reduce emissions from the internal combustion engine without the need for changes in significant infrastructure.
The use of synthetic fuel in Expo 2025 provides a practical display of their ability to contribute to the more durable transport.
