Actor-consenting Thalapati Vijay has found himself in the midst of a religious and political controversy after an iftar party hosted in Chennai on 7 March. The incident meant that to celebrate the spirit of Ramadan, he had expressed displeasure with many Sunni Muslim groups, which is being released by a religious body against a fatwa.
Religious leader calls victory Muslim
As mentioned by India today, Fatwa was issued by Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi Bareilly, National President All India Muslim Jamaat And Chashme Darul Ifta’s Chief Mufti. According to reports, he accused Vijay of insulting Islam and called him “anti -Muslim”. Fatwa indicates the previous work of Vijay and suggests that his work in the incident of Iftar was politically motivated.
According to Fatwa, “inviting alcoholics and gamblers for Iftar” is both illegal and sinful. Maulvi advised Muslims in Tamil Nadu not to trust Vijay or include them in any of their religious programs.
Maulana Razvi said, “Vijay Thalapathi is using Muslim emotions to make his way into politics from the world when his history is full of anti -Muslim spirit.” He said, “In his film ‘The Beast’, he has associated the Muslims and the entire Muslim community with terrorism and extremism. In the film, Thalapathi tries to show Muslims as ‘demons’ and ‘Devils’. And now he is entering politics and he wants votes, he is also a Muslim crowd,” according to today.
He also said, “Muslims should distance themselves Vijay ThalapathiDo not join their programs and do not invite them to their religious programs. ,
Complaint filed in Chennai
Back to Tamil Nadu, Tamil Nadu Sunnah Jamath also expressed concern. On March 11, the group filed a police complaint in Chennai, stating that Vijay’s iftar incident involved people who had no connection with fasting or Islam. The party was organized by Vijay’s political party, Tamilga Vatri Kazgam (TVK), and was held at the YMCA ground in Chennai. Vijay wore a skull hat, joined the evening prayers, and broke his fast with them.
However, Sunnah Jamath said the event was poorly organized and derogatory. The group’s treasurer, Syed Kous, told the media, “Muslims were insulted at the Iftar program organized by Vijay. We believe that the participation of alcoholic and miscreants who had nothing to do with fasting or iftar, has humiliated Muslims.”
He also said, “Legal action against Vijay should be taken to ensure that it does not happen again.” Co. clarified that the complaint was not made for attention, saying, “We did not file a complaint for publicity.”
No response to victory yet
So far, Vijay has not made any public statement about the complaint of fatwa or police. Allegedly, he is preparing to contest the 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly elections. On the film’s front, Vijay was last seen in ‘The Great of All Time (The goat)’, directed by Venkat Prabhu.
