Ferrari has prepared for electrification for years, has been started with Formula One Paurtrain, as it is near the launch of its first fully Electric (EV) model in October, Chairman John Elkan said on Wednesday.
Known globally for its roaring petrol engine, the luxury sportscar manufacturer began selling hybrid models in 2019 and is scheduled to unveil its first EV at a Capital Markets Day on 9 October.
Alkan said during the company’s annual shareholder meeting, “Electrification is a way that we have been starting in Formula One for decades and then starting our sports cars from our race cars.”
“We are very excited about unveiling Ferrari Eletrica (Electric)”.
In Formula One, Hybrid Povertrain was first introduced in 2014, while the “cars” systems to recover kinetic energy from tasks since 2009.
Elkan stated that Ferrari was committed to “complete control” over the major components of its sports cars.
He said that Ferrari inaugurated his hometown in his hometown, so-called e-bill, will increase the manufacturing flexibility to develop its future models.
“Now, we can also claim that all our major electric components are developed and there are handcuffs in Manenlo,” said Alkan.
CEO Benedato Wigna confirmed during the shareholders’ meeting that Ferrari would continue to make petrol, hybrid and fully electric cars.
“In fact, in accordance with our strategy, the three we continue to invest in Poortrain … to offer maximum freedom of choice to our customers,” he said.
Hybrids made 51% of Ferrari’s car sales last year.
