Vithalapur’s industrial future may change, in an important step, Honda Cars India Limited (HCIL) has excluded its long -held land parcels near Ahmedabad, clearing the way for the development of the industrial city on a large scale.
The Japanese car manufacturer has sold its 380 acres to the mascot group in Ahmedabad, which plans to build an industrial park with housing and civic amenities, close sources of development told TOI.
Honda acquired land in 2016-17, stating that they were gaining space for future expansion. However, with his Rajasthan-based Tapkara plant, working on a capacity of 1.8 lakh units per year-and being a scope for further development, the company decided to refer to Gujarat Landholding.
The company said, “The land that was being referred to was sold in April 2023. HCIL has sufficient infrastructure in Tapukra and Greater Noideto meets the needs of our medium -term capacity,” the company said by TOI responding to an email querry. “We are fully committed to the Indian market with a clear plan by 2030, including new models and electric vehicles.”
The land sales launched in 2023 are now closed with some legal formalities. An experienced mascot group in industrial and logistics development with five full industrial parks in the state, is now ready to execute its most ambitious project.
Sanjay Patel, director of Mascott Group, said, “We are setting an industrial city with 31 towers of five floors, designed to accommodate more than 12,000 workers.” “We are looking to establish several inquiries from multinational companies, which are looking to establish operations here. The region, especially Shameji and Vithalapur, are fast emerging as an industrial magnet.”
Patel told TOI that the project will go beyond the industrial shed only-plans include worker dormitory, residential apartments, a school, a food court and other urban suitability to create a self-sufficient ecosystem.
The state’s automobile industry is home to major players such as Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, MG Motors, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Limited, Hero MotoCorp and Atul Auto, which are manufacturing facilities here.
A real estate specialist Monil Parikh, with operations in the Mandal-Baikarji region, said, “The deal is pending with some formalities. There is a good demand from manufacturers of engineering and auto components in the Vithalapur-Barkarji area and will promote the possibilities of the establishment area of the industrial park.”
