If Microsoft stops updating Windows 10, it will turn into a breeding ground for cyber criminal. A computer without safety updates is not only a problem for the user, but it can also spread malware for others.
This decision also causes major environmental problems. If a few hundred million are completely functional computers thrown and the users buy new, the emissions will increase. The manufacture of new computers requires a large amount of energy and extraction of rare metals.
Microsoft has stated that security updates for Windows 10 will still be available for another year, but for the fee. So far, businesses can subscribe to extended support for older Windows versions and now we consumers can also do so. This, of course, is attractive to microsoft in short term, but it is not a permanent solution. In such a situation, a large ratio of users will continue to run Windows 10 without paying, so that safety can be compromised for all of us.
I personally hope that Microsoft realizes that they should reconsider this decision. Until the system is widely used, Windows 10 is to send free security updates. It is neither financially nor ecological durable to sell computers with a six -year lifetime.
We need to move away from the idea of computers, mobiles, tablets and other techniques, which are in the form of disposable products. It is an infection from the throwing society that we all need to be made. If Microsoft is serious about being a permanent company, they should immediately remove the death sentence on my six -year -old laptop and other working Windows 10 computers.
