A top official said that Smart EV Charger Startup Plugzmart has obtained ARAI certification for its own indigenous developed controller and power line communication (PLC) module for its electric vehicle charger. IIT-Madras-Incubated Startup has become the first Indian company to receive EV Certification for its controller and PLC module instead of relying on imported components. This development may contribute significantly to reduce India’s import dependence in the EV region, stated in a press release. The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) is the country’s major motor vehicle R&D organization established by the motor vehicle industry in collaboration with the Government of India.
Plugzmart’s 240KW DC Fast Charger is designed for high-power EV charging, which is a catering for high-ended four-wheelers, commercial fleet and highway corridors. It ensures high efficiency, reliability and compliance with Indian and international security standards.
Plugzmart founder and CEO Vivek Saimathan said, “EV charging technology in India is developing with innovations in fast charging, smart load management and indigenous charged development.
“Our indigenous controller and PLC modules can play an important role in reducing imports in the EV region,” he said.
Plugzmart’s charger aligns with the country’s national EV policy for high-speed charging infrastructure and provides collaborative opportunities with original equipment manufacturers (OEM), fleet operators and highway charging networks, the company said.
