New Delhi: Rajasthan Royals had a rare blockage center during Ryan Parag IPL 2025 Match against Delhi Capital at Arun Jaitley Stadium, as he was forced to change the moments of his bat before strike.
To bat in place of the injured Sanju Samson, Parag was stopped by an on-field umpire for a regular bat gauge check. The bat failed to fulfill the required specifications, causing a brief but animated exchange between the batsman and the officer. Despite his opposition, Para had no choice but to change his bat before playing.
A video capturing the incident has gone viral on social media, in which the bat was tested showing the exact moment and the Parag’s scene was angry at the learning that it did not pass.
However, the change in equipment did not change fate. Parag scored just 8 runs with 11 balls before being dismissed.
This incident adds to the increasing list of flags flagged players for bat regulation violations this season. Earlier, KKR’s Sunil Narin and Enrique Nortze were also designed to replace their bats after a similar investigation by match authorities.

Should players be punished for using non-transport bats?
According to the IPL 2025 regulations, bats should follow strict dimensions: maximum width of 10.79 cm, blade thickness up to 6.7 cm, the thickness of the edge is not more than 4 cm, and the total length was given at 96.4 cm.
With enforcement tightening, players and franchisees are being reminded that compliance with equipment standards is non-parasical this season.
Why are umpires checking bats?
The umpires are checking bats as part of the BCCI protocol, which aims to prevent players from receiving unfair advantage in the era of aggressive power heating.
The BCCI has authorized IPL match officials to inspect any bat that they consider necessary during the live game, marking a significant change from the previous sessions where such checks were limited to the dressing room.
What are the rules on the size of the bat?
The ICC rules determine specific BAT dimensions. The width of the bat facial should not exceed 4.25 inches (10.79 cm), while the thickness of the bat is limited to 2.64 inches (6.7 cm). The width of the edge may not exceed 1.56 inches (4 cm), and the total height of the bat should not exceed 38 inches (96.4 cm) from the base to the base.
