Acting NASA administrator Janet Petro discussed the return of two trapped astronauts on Earth on ‘The Bottom Line’.
NASA astronauts Buch Wilmore and Sun. Williams indicated that they would again be ready to travel at the Boeing’s Starlineer spacecraft in the future.
Wilmore, one of the two astronauts of NASA, who is originally injured in spending more than nine months in space instead of employed weeks, said he would “be found in heartbeat.”
“Yes, because we are going to fix all the issues we faced,” he asked reporters during a Monday press conference held about two weeks after his return. “We are going to fix them. We are going to work. Boeing is completely committed. NASA is completely committed. And with that, I will get into a heartbeat.”

Boeing’s Starlineer spacecraft brought Willmore and Williams to the International Space Station (ISS), which revolved around 250 miles from Earth in early June and was about to bring them back home after about a week.

The spacecraft experienced some issues as it got closer to the ISS, with NASA and Boeing to choose to make an unmanned return to Earth in early September and choose to add them to Crew -9.

Williams was similar to Wilmore on Monday when it came to Starlineer.
“I agree,” he said in response to this question if he would be ready to travel again in the spacecraft if he was presented a chance to do so.
“The spacecraft is really capable,” Williams said. “There were some things that need to be mentioned, and people are actively working on it. But it is a great spacecraft, and has a lot of ability that other spacecrafts do not have, and have an honor for that thing to succeed and be a part of that program.”
In August 2024, when NASA announced that the Starlineer would return to Earth without two astronauts, the space agency said that the spacecraft had faced issues with “helium leaks” and “spacecraft response controls.”

NASA said last week that IT and Boeing were “progressing towards the crew of the company’s CST -100 Starlineer system.”
According to NASA, joint teams from the space agency and Boeing are working to solve the in-flight discrepancies of Starlineer and prepare for the propulsion system testing in the next months. ”

The agency said that the two organizations are planning to test the “major Starlineer thrusters” in New Mexico. New helium system seal options are also being poured through the test.
NASA’s Steve Sichi said in a statement, “Once we get through these planned test campaigns, we would have a better idea when we can blow the next Boeing flight,” NASA’s Steve Sich said in a statement. “We will continue to work through certification towards the end of the year and then find out that Starlineer fits the best into the schedule for the International Space Station and its crew and the cargo mission.”
