Popular Mumbai based restaurant ToriIn the co-ownership of Gauri Khan, a YouTuber’s iodine test video has addressed recent allegations after the video expressed concern on social media.
Paneer gets dark
On Wednesday, YouTuber Sarthak Sachdeva visited several celebrity-owned restaurants in Mumbai to test his cheese quality using iodine tincture tests. His video, which went viral quickly, showed him to visit Virat Kohli’s One 8 Commune, Shilpa Shetty’s Bastian, Bobby Deol elsewhere and Gauri Khan’s Tori.
During the video, Sarathak removed the fried coating from each restaurant cheese dishes, rescued them in water, and then added a few drops of iodine. In most places, cheese remained unchanged in color, which Sachdeva interpreted as a sign of high quality ingredients. However, in Tori, Paneer darkened in contact with iodine, giving him this, saying, “Shahrukh Khan’s restaurant Meen Paneer was fake.
Restaurant clarifies
After the discussion, the restaurant immediately released an explanation in the comment section of the video, “Iodine test reflects the presence of starch, not the authenticity of the cheese. As the dish involves soy-based material, this response is expected. We are standing with the correctness of our cheese and the integrity of our content on the tori.”
Sarathak replied with humor, commenting, “So am I restricted now? 😵 BTW ur meal is amazing,” lightening the mood for followers tracking the exchange.
Gauri Khan, co-owner of the Upskale Pan-Asian restaurant located in Pali Hill area of Bandra, has not yet issued a personal statement.
