Skoda director Petr Jenba says Skoda hopes that its new Kodiaq will strengthen the brand in India.
The Skoda Auto is confident that the inauguration of the new Kodiak SUV in India will help further strengthen its brand image, especially the demand for SUV continues to grow in both India and around the world.
Speaking of ANI, Petra Jenba, director of Skoda Auto India, shared his expectations from the new version of Kodiaq.
Petra Jenba stated that the first generation of Kodiak marked the beginning of a new era for the company globally. He said, “It was our first seven-seater and our largest car at the time. The SUV segment is growing globally, and in India, Vikas is even faster. Kodiak played an important role in shaping the brand of Skoda since 2017.”
According to Petra Jenba, the previous generation of Kodiak recorded more than 900,000 sales worldwide, and more than 10,000 of them came from India. He believes that the new Kodiak, which is more spectacular and provides better value for money, will perform even better in the Indian market.
He said, “We expect to sell at least 150 percent more than what we used to do with the previous version in India,” he said, underlining the company’s strong focus to expand its presence in the Indian SUV segment. It is a plug-in hybrid with a car, Kodiak, a battery that can be autonomous more than 100 kilometers.
All new Kodiaqs come with a limited seven different colors. He said, “The new Kodiak is 100 percent localized and is being built here in India. The entire car has been gathered here in our Chaatrapati Sambhaji Nagar factory, which contributes a lot”, he said.
He also said that Skoda is also planning to launch its EV segment in India, which is not possible without a deep localized EV.
Skoda was the fastest growing brand in India compared to last year. “So we are adding a large number of, we have sold more than 7,000, units and we are now celebrating 25 years of Skoda in India and 130 years of Skoda this year. We are related to the top three oldest brands in the world and we are very proud of it.”
