A top official of the company said that Czech Auto Major Skoda Auto India requires a better share with a better plan in the group’s overall exports, as it is “committed” to more foreign shipments than the country. Skoda Auto India, which rolled out the second generation luxury 4×4 full-size SUV Kodiak in the country with an initial price of 46.89-lakh rupees on Wednesday, also said that the domestic market is away from a trend where people have chosen electric car as the only car in the family and one type from one type of fuel should be a certain period. Petra Jenba, director of the brand of Skoda Auto India, said, “We need to fight more for exports (AS) The main exports are still due to the Volkswagen brand. But we have opened a lot of new markets.”
He said that the company is exporting not only to Vietnam fully manufactured units (CBUs), but now starting exporting auto parts to South-East Asian country through Mumbai Port, where the company has a new factory, serving as the entrance to the ASEAN region.
Skoda Auto India, which is marking its 25 -year establishment in the country, is a part of the Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL), which handles the operation of Volkswagen, Skoda Auto, Audi, Porsche and Lamborghini in India.
In 2024, Savwipl achieved 40 percent of its locally produced vehicles in North America, Africa, Arab Gulf Cooperation Council (AGCC) and ASEAN region markets.
Over the years, the company has sent a total of 6.75 lakh vehicles to about 70 countries. The company exported more than 43,000 vehicles in the financial year 2023-24.
The company’s export portfolio includes heritage models such as Volkswagen Vento and Polo as well as models like Volkswagen Workus, Volkswagen Tagun and Skoda Kushak.
Skoda Auto India recorded its highest monthly sales in March 2025, selling 7,422 units, mainly inspired by the constant popularity of Slavia and Kushaq models, as well as the strong demand of all new Kachal SUVs.
“Now we are starting to export our parts to Vietnam, where we have a new factory, and Vietnam is our entrance to ASEAN because within ASEAN they will one day to increase their local content, they will be eligible for the right -hand drive cars for the operation of Malaysia and Indonesia.”
“We are committed to growing exports, but you know, exports should be planned with the development of the product. Now, it is very difficult when the product is already ready to search for countries because everyone has nuances, either technical or safety or power or emissions related to emissions. Therefore, at the end of the day, for all new cars, is a very important part of exports.
For the current Kushak and Slavia models where the company has invested in the left hand drive Kushak “but not in the left and right Slavia, which we have later developed only by Vietnam only”.
“We need to push more and we need to make it a better plan. Therefore, it is a lesson to come with new cars,” he said.
Regarding the second generation Kodiak, he said, “Our product conforms to the aggressive strategy, the launch of All-New Codiaq with the other end of our product spectrum with Luxury and Technology Skills of Skoda. Kodiak has now become an important heritage name for us like Octavia and Superbury.
