Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh has shared another personal side of his life in an recent interview. Yuvraj opened his father Yograj Singh’s attentive training under the attentive eyes, and those experiences shaped their own sons, Orion’s perspectives for the upbringing.
Yuvraj, who was proud of India with the 2011 World Cup victory, credited his father’s strict diet to pave the way for his professional career. However, he also revealed that the pressure to live up to those expectations came at the cost of heating up Father-son relationship During childhood.
In an interview with curly stories, Yuvraj admitted that his father, Yograj, were many times harsh, but it was his dream that his son saw the life that he had imagined for himself once. “Many times I didn’t like it, but I think sometimes you have to do things that you don’t like to understand what you want to achieve. I was pushed a lot, but that’s why I started playing for India when I was just 18 years old,” Yuvraj said.
Yuvraj, who is the father of two children, shared that he was eager to make more nutrition and friendly bonds with his son, Orion. His intention is to break the pattern of stern parenting that he experienced and instead created memories that are beyond the cricket pitch.
“With my father, it was always about cricket. I don’t want to be a coach for my children – I want to be a father. I couldn’t do with my father, I now do with my son,” he said.
Yuvraj’s mother, Shabnam Singh, who joined him during the same interview, added his insight into the cricketer’s childhood. He said that despite the horrific practice sessions implemented by Yogaj, Yuvraj never made any complaint. In a light moment, Yuvraj teased what his mother had said for the interview was well rehearsed.
He also reminded Yuvraj’s mischievous nature, remembering an incident, when he received a prank call from someone as a police officer, he claimed that his son had misbehaved. “The first person makes a fool that I am, and every time, I am taken in,” he said.
The stressful relationship between Yuvraj and his father has been a matter of public interest, especially since his retirement in 2019. At that time, Yograj Singh told PTI that his strict love approach was inspired by his son’s desire to prove a point through success. He expressed his gratitude for having a son like Yuvraj and expected a mutual understanding between them.
Yuvraj shared that he eventually received an emotional resolution. Beyond his retirement, the father and son finally talked to the heart for a long time, which further shut down the Yuvraj.
