Google Play Store has added several new features to enrich user experience. Enhancements include AI-generated app reviews, curated content spaces, multi-game capabilities, and exclusive rewards for Play Pass and Points program members.
Google has announced that it is bringing a bunch of features to Google Play Store, including new ways to discover apps, play games, earn rewards and get helpful content – all in a streamlined manner. According to the company, these changes are aimed at improving the “end-to-end experience” of Android users on the store.
“You might visit an app store to quickly download something, and in some cases, don’t visit it again until you need the next app or game.
Now we’re taking Play from a destination people visit for apps to an end-to-end experience that’s more than a store,” Sam Bright, vice president and general manager, Google Play, said in a blog post.
Google Play will introduce AI-generated app reviews and FAQs to help users make informed decisions. Additionally, a new feature will allow users to compare similar apps more easily. The company is also testing curated spaces for specific topics, such as cricket and comics, to provide a more focused app experience.
“We recently piloted a curated space for cricket to help users in India explore all their cricket content from various apps in one, convenient spot. Users in Japan can find the curated comics space by selecting the ‘Comics’ tab on the Apps home screen,” the company said.
Users can also use new multi-select interest filters to specify preferences. For instance, if you want a sports simulation game, you can add that to the search text.
New games and offers on Google Play Pass
Play Pass, Google’s subscription service, is adding new games and offers. Google Play Games on PC is expanding with multi-game capabilities, allowing players to run multiple games simultaneously. Play Pass enables users to access more than 1,000 games and apps with no ads or in-app purchases, and monthly offers in top games.
“Our latest slate includes new offers in Asphalt Legends Unite starting July 24, as well as in Call of Duty: Mobile and Candy Crush Saga on August 1. Kingdom Rush 5: Alliance will also be joining the Play Pass catalogue later this month,” Google added.
Additionally, Google is levelling up its offering with new perks and early access to top titles. The company will launch Super Weekly Prizes, giving Diamond, Platinum and Gold members a chance to win exciting prizes like Pixel devices, Razer gaming products and merchandise.
Super Weekly Prizes for Google Play Points program members
The Google Play Points program is introducing Super Weekly Prizes for members. Exclusive experiences are also being offered in partnership with brands like Pokémon GO and Marvel.
“This weekend, we’re teaming up with Marvel Games and Kabam for another member event at San Diego Comic-Con. Silver+ members can get VIP access to the 80-foot “Wheel of Champions” with chances to win Marvel collectibles and photo ops with their favourite superheroes and villains,” it said.
Meanwhile, all fans will be able to redeem their points for limited-edition Marvel Comics and Marvel Contest of Champions character bundles on Google Play.
Google Play Store brings Collections
Google is launching Collections to display relevant app content on the home screen. Users can also control how Play data is used for personalisation. Launched in the US, the Collections experience comes with automatically organised categories — like Shop, Watch and Listen — each Collection highlights content from apps users have already installed.
