Petrol, Diesel Price Today 22 September 2024: Oil prices remained stable during the Asian trading on Friday but are all set to close higher for the continuous second week. Brent futures were recorded to be down by 19 cents or 0.3% to $73.69 a barrel, and have risen by 4.3% for this week. Meanwhile, the escalating tensions across West Asia including the latest blasts of Hezbollah communication devices have impacted sentiment and led to volatility in crude prices.
As per a senior official statement, the Ministry of Oil while talking to PTI stated that international oil prices continued to be volatile. The official further explained that despite a decline in the input costs, petrol and diesel prices have not been cut down in India because of the unpredictable state of global oil prices. ‘’Oil prices remain to witness volatility. The official mentioned that they went down below USD 70 but rose again the next day,’’ the official mentioned. He further elaborated that as long as oil prices remain unsteady, state-owned fuel firms are not likely to make adjustments in daily prices.
According to Rahul Kalantri, VP Commodities, Mehta Equities Ltd, ”In the U.S., crude oil inventories have fallen to their lowest levels this year, and the possibility of replenishing the SPR could bolster prices. However, limiting factors include the Bank of England’s decision to maintain its policy rate at 5.0% and concerns over weakening demand from China. We anticipate that crude oil prices will remain volatile in today’s session. Key support levels for crude oil are $69.80 to $69.10, with resistance at $71.30 to $71.90. In INR terms, support stands at ₹5,910 to ₹5,840, while resistance is expected between ₹6,035 and ₹6,110.”
