Dacia Bigster SUV unveiled: Dacia has introduced the Bigster SUV to the global market, putting an end to widespread speculation. This new model is essentially an extended version of the Renault Duster, built on the Renault-Nissan CMF-B platform. Previews three-row Renault Duster: Although the Bigster has been revealed in a five-seat configuration, it serves as a preview of the upcoming three-row version of the Renault Duster. This three-row variant is expected to launch in India in the coming year and will also give rise to a new Nissan SUV.

Duster-inspired exterior design: The Bigster’s exterior draws heavily from the Duster, especially in the front fascia. Its headlights incorporate Y-shaped daytime running lights (DRLs) that blend seamlessly into the grille. The front bumper has been redesigned with black cladding around the fog lamps, while the air dam has been slightly altered. Additionally, black cladding surrounds the wheel arches.

Longer and larger than Duster: Compared to the Duster, the Bigster is significantly larger, measuring 227mm longer. The design retains window-mounted door handles similar to the Duster. At the rear, the Bigster features tail lamps akin to the Duster, while the bumper has seen some minor revisions.

Duster-inspired interior layout: The cabin of the Bigster closely mirrors that of the Duster, with a similar layout and design. The centre console is equipped with a freestanding 10.1-inch infotainment display. The upper section of the console is angled towards the driver, providing easier access and visibility.

Infotainment and tech features: Inside the cabin, the Bigster offers two digital instrument display options: a 7-inch or a 10-inch variant. Additional features include a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, electrically adjustable driver’s seat, electric tailgate, and wireless charging. The Renault version is expected to come with an additional row of seats.

Strong-hybrid and mild-hybrid options: The powertrain lineup for the Bigster includes both strong-hybrid and mild-hybrid options. The Hybrid 155 variant pairs a 107 bhp 4-cylinder petrol engine with two electric motors (a 50 bhp motor and a high-voltage starter/generator). A 1.4 kWh battery (230V) supports this setup, delivering a combined output of 153 bhp and 170 Nm of torque, with a six-speed automatic gearbox.

Turbo-petrol option available: A second powertrain option for the Bigster includes a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system. This engine can also run on LPG, offering a dual-fuel option for customers. The transmission is a six-speed manual, with 4×4 options available.
