Apple is reportedly making progress on the M4 MacBook Air and preparing to launch a new low-cost iPad.
The tech giant intends to start production of the updated MacBook Air models, which will incorporate the next-generation M4 chip, in the coming months, with an expected release window between January and March 2025, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported Wednesday.
The upcoming MacBook Air will maintain a design similar to the 2022 models, according to Gurman. However, unlike the previous model which ran on the M3 chip, the new model will use the M4 chip for improved processing capabilities and energy efficiency.
While specific features and the release date for the new budget iPad remain unclear, Gurman said the new MacBook Air will be available in 13in and 15in configurations.
Although the M4 MacBook Air models are not expected to be revealed at the upcoming event next week — where new versions of the MacBook Pro, Mac Mini, and iMac are likely to take center stage — interest in the M4 chip continues to build.
