UAE Passport Leads Latest Mobility Ranking: Why 182 Does Not Mean Visa-Free Everywhere

An October 13 report puts the UAE passport’s mobility score at 182. The Passport Index includes several entry arrangements, not only visa-free travel.

The UAE passport retains the leading position in the latest Passport Index coverage, with a mobility score of 182 in Gulf News’ October 13 report. That number is an access measure, not a new announcement removing visas for 182 destinations.

Key points

  • The reported mobility score is 182, with the UAE passport retaining the leading rank.
  • Passport Index counts visa-free, visa-on-arrival, eTA and qualifying fast eVisa access.
  • A ranking is not a substitute for the destination’s current entry requirements.

What the index actually counts

Passport Index’s methodology says its mobility score combines visa-free and visa-on-arrival access with electronic travel authorisations and eVisas issued within three days. The index covers 199 passports. Describing the entire score as visa-free travel would therefore overstate what the metric means.

What travellers should check

Use the relevant government’s immigration information before booking and again before travelling. Check the passport nationality, purpose of travel, permitted stay, document validity and any required application or fee. The score does not establish eligibility for work or residence, and it does not guarantee admission at a border. The new report describes a retained ranking; this article does not claim a new visa-waiver law took effect on October 13.
